The most positive negative

When he was given the test he was sitting on my lap and holding both my hands...he didn't even flinch. No one should ever have to accompany two ten-year-olds to get tested for AIDS. If you have to the results better be negative....which they were!! The doctor was in total disbelief and a tidal wave of relief washed over me in an instant. I cried happy tears, squeezed Taupe so tight and wasn't letting go first. We also took a little boy named David to get tested because it was suspected that he also may have the disease. It was also great moral support for Taupe. I was able to find a Doctor from England and with tests made in America. The medical system is just as corrupt as the rest of the country so trust is always an issue. A lot of times they will give fake tests, made in China and they will re-package used needles. So, I needed the peace of  mind and these boys deserved to know, 100%. Can you imagine the stress of parents here when their children are ill and having to question and investigate a Doctors every move? Unbelievable. Both boys were weighed, David is healthy and Taupe weighed 29 pounds...he is 10. I also had the Dr. take a look at his blind eye. He told me it is a cataract that could most likely be operated on and removed,  Taupe would be able to see again. Yes, I know...tears. The Doctor gave me the number to a trusted friend that also happens to be an opthamologist, our appointment is at 8:30 a.m. today.. He told me the surgery will be around $100. What a small price to pay. It's sad to think he would have gone through the rest of his life like this.

After our Dr. visit we took the boys to have cheeseburgers, french fries, watermelon milkshakes and chicken fingers. They ate until they looked like they were going to pass out and were giggling the whole time. I feel like I should have had to buy tickets to be able to witness such a beautiful sight...they ate every bite. For lunch they normally eat rice with what I call "shrimp dust." It looks like paprika and is supposedly dried shrimp. That is all they have...usually three meals a day. This meal to them was like every Christmas and Birthday they have ever missed. When they got back to the orphanage we were comparing bellies, I won. ; )

Today was full of highs and lows. I am choosing now to keep focused on those highs, which isn't always easy. Reading your emails and comments helps me more than you will ever know, please keep them coming. Well, I have to run to take Taupe to the eye Doctor, fingers crossed! I will update tonight and let you all know if he will be able to regain his sight.

I love you,
LM
